Governing Body
Who are the Governing Body and what do you do?
Who are we?
The full Governing Body is a group of volunteers from the staff of the school, from parents of the pupils and from the local community. We care about the school and are responsible for ensuring a high standard of educational provision for the school’s pupils. We divide into smaller groups to deal with the various aspects of school life.
The School Development Committee is made up of the Chairmen of the committees and is responsible for the correct functioning of the various committees and for setting down the Governor input into the School Improvement Plan, each year.
There are six other committees: Finance, Personnel, Premises/Health and Safety, Special Educational Needs, Community Links & Curriculum.
What do we do?
The full Governing Body meets once a term, as do all the committees, except Finance, which meets more frequently when necessary. An extra Full Governing Body meeting is held in the Spring Term, so that a report can be received from the School’s Improvement Partner, who looks at the school’s SATs Results, other records and achievements, before delivering the School’s Improvement Review Record.
